Autumn

Updated: Dec 5, 2023

Hello everyone, I hope you all are having a wonderful day! To start this month of September off, I am sharing with you all a new poem post on my blog. This poem is about all things related to fall. From the crisp air to the beautiful foliage of leaves to the best-tasting foods. I encourage you all to get in the fall spirit and relax your mind when reading this poem!

Autumn

A gust of wind blows me away

From the colored leaves.

A sweet fruit covering the sun

As I lay my hand under it.

A warm yet chilly breeze gently sweeps me

Into a land of what I call autumn.

Pumpkin patches cover the ground of worn-out grass.

Soft and prickly hay covers the bedding and

Little gardens pop up before night falls.

A sweet and sugary scent lingers my nostrils

As I walk close to the baked goods of delicious cider and apple pie.

A familiar scent that I know too well.

Delicate leaves fall to the ground

As large piles quickly form

Making way for dogs and children to jump in.

Staggering rakes clip the ground as

Stems and broken leaves disintegrate.

The sun quickly goes away when all the leaves have fallen.

A time that is missed and loved.

A simpler time to be brave and start anew.

A time to be grateful yet, cautious

As the sun goes down quicker than expected.

A time for things to change and

Become colder with time.

Decadent layers of flavor seeping through the warm apple pie

Covering the roof of my mouth with vanilla ice cream and flaky dough.

Sweetness of apple and a sprinkle of cinnamon to

Show my tastebuds are truly changing with the season.

My teeth chatter when the ice cream hits my mouth,

But my heart tells me to hold on a bit longer.

With the season changing from hot summer to chilly fall,

My mind can’t help but to think of all the things I’ve missed.

All the things I wait for each year to come again.

All the things I love and wait patiently for them to arrive.

I wait for my heart to settle in with the thought of another season coming to an end.

Yet, my mind wants to explore and relive each moment quickly.

I pause at the first leaf that falls before my eyes.

A perfect red leaf that falls from the Maple tree.

A leaf that stays on for so long,

But when it’s ready to leave it lets go.

It falls to the ground and doesn’t get up

Instead, it flies away to a new home.

I try to catch it before it’s too late,

Even though I know there will be plenty of leaves to see again.

But I want to hold onto the first leaf

Because that was the first time I saw change before my eyes.

But I can’t hold onto change because

It won’t allow me to change with it.

So, I let go of all my leaves.

I turn my head up to the sky and

Watch all the trees sway back and forth

As more leaves leave their tree.

I can’t catch them all nor can I hold onto them,

But I can appreciate them from afar and grow beside them.

Thank you all very much for reading this poem post! I hope you all enjoyed reading this poem all about my love for the fall season! I have more posts planned for this month and I cannot wait to share them with you all! Also, I have an entire 12-month calendar spread that is undated and customizable as well as two-word searches perfect for summer! I hope you all have a great day, and I will see you all in the next post!
